Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio was interviewed recently for an article about facial pain and the Gamma Knife printed in the Northern New Jersey newspaper, The Record. The article, Valley Physicians Relieve Severe Facial Pain with Gamma Knife Technology, is about a facial pain syndrome called trigeminal neuralgia and you can find it in a supplemental section of the August 1, 2013 edition of  the newspaper called the Heath Quarterly.

Here is an excerpt from the story:

Medication is always the first line treatment of choice. “When medication fails, we can help you determine if you might be a candidate for other treatments such as surgery or targeted radiosurgery using the Gamma Knife technology,” says neurosurgeon Anthony D’Ambrosio, M.D., co-director of the Gamma Knife Center, located at Valley’s Robert & Audrey Luckow Pavilion in Paramus, and associate director of Neuroscience. In recent studies, 85 to 90 percent of patients with classic trigeminal neuralgia had excellent or good pain relief after Gamma Knife treatment. The least invasive neurosurgeical treatment for trigeminal neuralgia, Gamma Knife is also the least likely of all surgical treatments to cause complications. — The Record’s August 1, 2013 edition of Health Quarterly
