Over the past few years, Dr. D’Ambrosio has filled a special role for the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors. This year, to express its thanks, the group presented him with a certificate of appreciation that recognizes his “outstanding service and significant contributions” to the renowned brain tumor organization.
His service began in 2013, when Dr. D’Ambrosio took up the chairmanship of the group’s history committee. This is a fascinating role, since the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors is the world’s oldest professional organization devoted to the study and treatment of brain tumors. In 2013, he presented a talk about the group’s history at an annual meeting of neurosurgeons.
In 2014, the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors celebrated its 30th anniversary. Dr. D’Ambrosio served as guest editor for a special 30th anniversary supplement that the group published. The supplement was a chance for brain tumor surgeons to reflect on the past, present, and future of their profession, as well as their professional organizations.
As guest editor, Dr. D’Ambrosio solicited and edited articles from other neurosurgeons. He helped to put together a well-balanced and well-written collection of articles that were enjoyed by all. (Read our post about Dr. D’Ambrosio’s work on that supplement here.)
And in 2015, the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors presented Dr. D’Ambrosio with the certificate above… marking what may be just the beginning of Dr. D’Ambrosio’s history of outstanding work on behalf of the brain tumor group.
Congratulations, Dr. D’Ambrosio.
