Dr. Dorothea AltschulDr.-Altshul-#1 is passionate about stroke treatment and education. In the last few months, we have brought you stories about her educational appearances on Twitter, on radio, and in person.

At the recent meeting of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN), Dr. Altschul took on a different role. There she was a moderator for an educational session aimed at doctors, called “Advances in the Field / Emerging Technologies.”

The session consisted of presentations on a variety of topics: these included the use of stem cells for stroke recovery; new surgical techniques; and lessons learned bringing a new product to market. Dr. Altschul and the other speakers also discussed the importance of comprehensive stroke centers such as The Valley Hospital (read more about that here).

Dr. Altschul enjoyed moderating this session and the lively Q&A that followed. “It was a pleasure to be invited to participate in this meeting,” she says. “I always enjoy learning new things and staying current on the most groundbreaking new technologies.”

She also took advantage of the SVIN meeting to stay up to date with her colleagues’ research and attend lectures on conditions like AVMs, aneurysms, and spinal lesions.
