Dr. Dorothea Altschul, a neurointerventionalist with the Columbia Neurosurgery Network: New Jersey, was on WCBS this week and last, talking about stroke and the new Federal program, StrokeNet.
The Stroke Research Network (StrokeNet) was established in 2014 by the National Institute of Health (NIH) to expedite and improve stroke care across the country. They chose Columbia University Medical Center to be one of 25 regional centers.
As one of Columbia’s satellite institutions, The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey was also chosen to be part of StrokeNet, and Dr. Altschul is one of Valley’s principal investigators. “We are very honored to be one of the chosen sites,” says Dr. Altschul. “The benefits to our patients and our research efforts are tremendous.”
This July, Dr. Altschul talked about StrokeNet and stroke in general with Pat Farnack on the WCBS radio show Health and Wellbeing. Her interview aired over two weeks in a six-part series that you can still listen to on the WCBS website here; look for the following episodes and air dates:
