Pediatric Neurosurgeon Dr. Richard Anderson moderated a series of oral presentations given at the annual meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) recently in San Francisco. He was also senior author for one of the papers discussed during the session.
The presentations were part of an Original Science series put on by the joint AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery that focused on some of the most important ongoing clinical trials in their subspecialty. Important areas for further research were discussed and participants were invited to analyze the findings of novel neurosurgical studies and critique the design and methodology of these studies.
Dr. Anderson was senior author of a paper titled, Vein Number and Drainage Pattern Predicts Hemorrhagic Risk and Outcome in Pediatric Arteriovenous Malformations, that was presented by Columbia University medical student Michael McDowell. The study was co-authored by a number of scientists and neurosurgeons from Columbia University Medical Center including the following: Michael M. McDowell, Dr. Christopher P. Kellner, Michelle Q. Phan, Dr. Daniel Sahlein and Dr. Richard C. E. Anderson.
