Monmouth Medical Center will be hosting their 17th Annual Power of Pink Luncheon this month and Dr. Ty J. Olson from our West Long Branch office will be honored.
The annual luncheon is organized by the Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth and will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Fort Chapel and Grounds at Sandy Hook in New Jersey. Proceeds will benefit the patient Infusion Unit at the Leon Hess Cancer Center.
Special guest speaker will be Cynthia Nixon, cancer survivor and actress from the television show Sex and the City.
Dr. Olson says, “I am looking forward to the event. It was a total surprise they asked me.”
Dr. Olson is Co-Medical Director of the Gamma Knife Program at Monmouth Medical Center along with Dr. Sang E. Sim, who will also be honored.
A Gamma Knife uses highly concentrated Gamma Rays to target tumors and other lesions in the brain without disturbing the normal surrounding tissues.
Gamma Knife procedures are a non-invasive alternative to traditional open surgery and most often can be done in an out-patient visit and with virtually no pain.
