Dr. Anthony D’Ambrosio just administered vaccines to our first two glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients in our New Jersey Trial.
These patients are participating in the new Brain Tumor Vaccine Trial we recently blogged about (see Valley Hospital Now Participating in Vaccine Trial for Brain Cancer). Dr. D’Ambrosio is the principal investigator.
Both patients were treated at Valley Hospital. Valley is one of nine sites nationally involved in this novel immunotherapy trial and the only hospital in New Jersey with access to this vaccine.
According to Dr. D’Ambrosio, “Both patients had surgery and have completed standard chemo radiation and are responding well. They came back to Valley to receive the first of several patient specific vaccines created against this aggressive tumor. The vaccine is given via an intra-dermal injection using a small needle. Everything went well and the patients went home immediately after receiving the vaccine. They will be back in one week for the next treatment.”
